A state program that offers protective services to adults, 18 years of age and older, who are at risk due to abuse, neglect, or exploitation, whether by self or others. Reports are investigated, and support services to remedy the problem are initiated. Legal mandates require adults in cases of neglect to be seen within 5 working days, and within 24 hours in cases of emergencies. Public guardianship may be sought when needed to protect the adult from risk. Concerned persons can call anonymously.
